Photo superpowers

A few simple superpowers to help you take more creative photos. There's no right or wrong — just explore, experiment and have fun.

What is a photographer?

Someone who notices cool things.

A photographer notices things and captures them with their camera. Photographers don't just look — they see and feel: light through tree leaves, dew drops on a flower, pretty colors, a face full of feeling.

Before you press the button, pause and ask: What do I want to remember about this?

Your only rule: feel something in what you see and… “click!” ~ Kathy

Can you find a shadow bigger than YOU?

Soft light makes gentle shadows. Bright sun makes bold ones.

What if you were a tiny bug with a camera?

What do you prefer: one tiny treasure — or a whole pile of WOW?

Lesson 05

Color

If your whole room turned ONE color, what color would you pick?

Lesson 06

Storytelling

Has a photo ever made you laugh? Or say “Awwwww!”

Each picture gives us clues to a story.

Try it: Make a picture that says “happy” without any words.

Lesson 07

Artist Style

What was the last thing you wore that felt like YOU?

Bright and silly? Soft and cozy? Dark and mysterious?

Try it: Pick three words for your photo style.

Lesson 08

Aperture + Zoom

Want your toy to POP out of a blurry background?

BOKEH (BOH-kay) is the soft, dreamy blur behind your subject.

What if your photo got a teeny-tiny makeover?
